Journey Soundtrack Now Available

intheNews

April 11, 2012

News everyone!

The Journey Original Soundtrack, composed by Austin Wintory, is now available worldwide on iTunes, and is making its way to the various PlayStation Stores as we speak!  Or as I write this message and you read it.  And possibly it will be up everywhere by the… Anyways, it’s available for US$5, 750 Yen, 4.99 Pounds, and in other currencies throughout the world!  Journey was the 29th most downloaded album on iTunes yesterday!  That’s huge news for a soundtrack to an exclusive PlayStation 3 game!  Austin Wintory is truly a great composer!  Congrats, Austin!

To buy the soundtrack on the PlayStation Store, just turn on your PlayStation 3, find the “Search” button on the top-right corner of the screen, and search for “Journey soundtrack.”  It will pop up right away, and you can quickly get to listening to the soundtrack in 320 256 kbps MP3s!

Or, if you prefer to listen to it in 256 kbps MP3s, or AACs, (whatever iTunes has), then here’s the iTunes link:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/journey-original-soundtrack/id511359368

If you’ve downloaded the soundtrack on iTunes or the PS Store, what do you think?  Or are you going to wait until the CD release of the soundtrack?

EDIT:
Even though, if I remember correctly, other albums on the PS Store have been in 320 kbps MP3s, it appears as if the Journey soundtrack isn’t 320 kbps on the PS Store, but 256 kbps…  🙁

Journey is PSN’s Fastest-Selling Game, Soundtrack Coming Soon

Can’t you host it somewhere to download where we can just pay you via paypal? I don’t trust my PS3 for a music library, and avoid iTunes like the plague because I’m a luddite.

This is music deserving of a vinyl release. If Thatgamecompany were to start a kickstarter to have it pressed I’m sure it would reach the goal and exceed it. (hint)

Well, I wanted to buy it in the store, so I went to the store to buy a PSN Card, but they only had a €50,- one. Which I didn’t really want to buy, since had already bought one recently and stuff. I did buy a used copy of Mirror’s Edge though ^^

Anyways, I think I’ll wait for the CD. Although I really can’t wait to listen to this amazing soundtrack!

@Gabriel, Gudfrodr, Krista, Ross Williams, Swante, David Amador:
The soundtrack is released only on the PS3 and iTunes because Sony wanted it that way. We don’t have any control over what Sony decides to do with their Intellectual Property.
And the PS Store’s version doesn’t have DRM, so you can transfer it to your cell phone, MP3 player, computer, etc.

Worth every penny! The initial release had some quirks (it was $10 instead of $5, and all of the track titles ended in a “(1)”), but now all is well!

Hey everyone, btw, Austin is composing the music for the upcoming game “Banner Saga”, which is now raising support on Kickstarter. If you support it at the $25 mark, you get his soundtrack!

Glad to see Journey soundtrack doing well on iTunes – it deserves it! And for $5 it is a pure bargain. I think is one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard – and I mostly listen to soundtracks instead of other music so that says someting..

Especially “I Was Born For This” It is just perfect for the emotions brought forward by the game. Just listening to it is a worthy reward for completing the most gratifying entertainment experience I have ever had in any games or movies. Probably the most beutiful and haunting song I have ever heard. It is just epic!

Also ‘Atonement’, ‘Reclamation’, ‘Apotheosis’ have been replayed countless times the last days after downloading the album..

It is a powerful emotional soundtrack – my appreciation to Austin Wintory, Lisbeth Scott, the producers and musicians!

Make the high grade Vinyl release, and it will pay back, no doubt… I am going to buy it. Put the voting on your website, the preorder, whatever, and you will see 😉

Just bought on PSN the OST and GOD…. this is just too much! We really should encourage the creator of this game and Austin Wintori as well. The music is the soul of a videogame and the graphic is vessel, and Journey pierce the mind with both of them. If Thatgamecompagny continue on is way to create similar yet different games, always with the same goal to deliver something more than just a game, something sensible and powerful, they’re gonna reach the sky really fast. Congratz for Journey! Piece of real art !

That’s up to Sony. Currently, all the released soundtracks for Sony’s games are only available digitally on iTunes. That is, except for Journey also being on the Bandcamp page of the composer, Austin Wintory.

You can download it in FLAC/MP3/OGG here (you can also stream it with Bandcamp’s streaming app after purchase):
