At long last, a trailer. Thanks for all the hard work you do pursuing the tender and more emotional side of video games.

I don’t care anymore, someone from thatgamecompany must have my babies. You guys are too amazing and I just want to have a child with you guys. Please give me the possible percentage of this happening.

The trailer was amazing, and the music was pretty much spot on. Also, please tell Sony to put a “Gift” option on PSN so I can gift Flower and this to some of my close friends. It would be a great business decision and also help spread the love around. I believe that more people need to play your games and realize that gaming is more than just getting headshots, ripping peoples eyes out, nail the perfect drift, etc…

I applaud you again as a fellow gamer and hope you don’t ever stop making original titles like these. You guys give me hope.

You guys are truly my personal heros in the game industry. I pay you the highest respect for making games that stand so far apart from all these senselessly violent and competitive games out there. I feel like your games make a much larger statement beyond just gaming but at the state of our world in general. I really hope to see more games from you beyond your Sony contracts because I would have absolutely no reservations in dishing out $60 for one of your titles.

Happy Holidays to all of you and yours! Keep up the great, inspiring and awakening work.

    Awesome!
The gameplay sure looks better than the pictures! And I think the movement of the wanderer and the environment looks really cool also.

With the desert surroundings, I doubt many people will say this trailer is girly, just like what they said about Flower, although it does look like the wanderer is wearing a dress…

How much do you want and when can I give it to you? Thank you so much for finally releasing a trailer.
It looks amazing and I can’t wait to play it. Flower is my favourite game of all time, and if Journey is even half as good it’ll be the best thing to come out all year.

what a great suprise! i thought it was all desert and only the same character, but it turns out there are underwater segments, snow regions and a night cycle. also the wanderer can be different colors! beutiful, smart and interesting. please guys, i don’t care if you are not sony exclusive, b/c it will be great if you expand and include wii, pc and other consoles, but please please please… you have to keep making more games like Flower, Flow, Cloud and Journey! good luck in finishing the game and getting everything perfect!!

Excellent job! Reminds me a lot of an old french animated movie called Gwen et Le Livre De Sable. I think other experimental animated shorts like the ones of Kunio Kato and Shigeru Tamura could be very inpirational for the team. Anyway the game is looking very promising, good work!

    Amazing!!!

Thanks for making games like flOw, flower and now journey!!!

I have read an interview of Jenova Chen on IGN about blockbuster games and independent games like these. And I must use a metaphor like this:

“thatgamecompany” is the “David Lynch” of videogames.

    your work is avantgarde,
and will be viewed some years from now as critical for the development of the video games.

Isolation, powerlessness, the feeling of hopelessness as you see the remnants of a civilization long since past. Reminds me of Frank Herbert’s, “Dune” on some levels. This will be an amazing piece of art once finished. The character design borrows heavily from middle eastern practices which is marvelous, as their clothing serves as a multi functional design for desert travel and is still used today. I can’t help but feel a solidarity with this character “having lived in such environments for part of my life”. Nice work TGC. Even the sound of the wind is haunting enough to bring back memories.

Bellissimo! Everyone seems to be reminded of something they love (’tis a good omen). For me, this brings to mind both the Transcendentalist poetry of Whitman and Emerson, and (in a much more subtle way) the modernist novels of Virginia Woolf—specifically “To the Lighthouse” and “Mrs. Dalloway.” (It is inescapable—I am a writer; what other excuse can I offer?)

I can tell this Journey is more of a spiritual pilgrimage, but perhaps one of a very different nature. Sometimes the most difficult journey is to forge a bridge that crosses the illusion of distance and space that seems to separate two people.

Good luck with the development and do not forget to take care of yourselves as well!

Just watched the extended interview. I think Jenova just became my own personal hero. You guys approach games with such a revolutionary view, there is nothing like what you make. Journey is going to be amazing and we need more games like these.

You guys are pure genius. Games like yours are beautiful, timeless, rare. If you need beta testers and bug reporting I’d be delighted to try to break your games 😉

I just wanted to say thank you, each and every one of you for what you do. Hopefully someday I can program for an amazing, unique, creative team like you all!

PS I would still love to see a Flower expansion.

PPS I too would give Flower over PSN as gifts if the PS Store had a gift option. Those idiots want to make money, but customer relations leave much to be desired.(*ahem otherOS debacle grumble grumble Sony is lucky to have such talented devs helping PS3 to still have ANY business from me cough*) 😉

woah!!!… ive not visited TGC for some time now (last time was when flower was just released)

but i have to say the trailer for Journey looks incredible. i mean i shouldn’t have expected anything different from you guys. i love the change of emotion im getting off this one compared to the last 3 which were very warming and bright. this one has a sense of lonely style by the looks from the trailer.

i read through some of the comments above and totally agree with what “nyct3a” said about the mp3’s. and a request from myself would to make a cd or some kind of collection of all the audio’s (mainly cloud and flower personally )
