Journey on PlayStation 4 July 21

Cross-posted from the U.S. PlayStation Blog on behalf of Aaron Kaufman.

In 2012, our dear friends and partners at thatgamecompany brought a transcendent award-winning game to the PlayStation universe that has connected gamers worldwide. Journey is a game that truly encapsulates our imagination and emotion into an experience like no other. If you’ve ascended the mountain, you know exactly what I mean.

On July 21, Journey will descend on the PlayStation 4 more stunningly beautiful than ever.  If you have yet to discover its wonders, or desire to soar above the ruins and glide across the sands once again, this is the perfect time. Additionally, Journey will support Cross-Buy. If you have digitally purchased it already for PlayStation 3, you can download it free for PlayStation 4.

#OurJourney – What Did Your Journey Experience Mean To You?

I could pen 5 pages of poetry to describe Journey, but this is a game that has meant something different to everyone. We’d like to call upon PlayStation fans worldwide to share “What Your Journey Experience Meant To You”, and watch it come together at

Grab your phone, turn it toward you, record, and share your video testimonial on YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook

So, what did your Journey experience mean to you? If you can’t answer that question yet, then you certainly can on July 21.

Finally, if you happened to miss it, you can still pre-order the Journey vinyl featuring the Grammy-nominated score from composer Austin Wintory, in a stunning 2-disc LP set from our friends at iam8bit. Venture to their store right here.

Thank you to developer Tricky Pixels and creators thatgamecompany for bringing the experience of Journey to the PlayStation 4.

I’m so happy this is finally coming out. Journey changed my perspective on gaming and even gave me a life lesson. This is more than a video game and I couldn’t be happier to start journeying on PS4 meeting new companions, thanks Thatgamecompany for creating this game and thank you to all that worked on the port that made this possible for PS4! :)

I have the physical copy collector’s edition for the PS3. Is there any way to still get the free PS4 version since I already paid for the original game?

Bit of confusion here here as it is NOT listed in the upcoming releases for PS4 on the Playstation Store or on the main website. It is still listed as TBC.
Any clarification would be nice as big fan of the game and already have it as well as all the other releases on PS3 as well as the available ones on PS4 and Vita.
Hope the game has been expanded as so much scope to do so with new level and attainments would be really cool or as add ons at some later stage.

So I just saw this pop up for preorder on the psn and noticed it comes with a free theme which is awesome. But as I already own the game on PS3 I cannot throw any money at my TV. No matter how hard I try it just won’t go! Is there anyway us oldtimers will be able to get a ps4 theme? maybe make this one available for purchase later on? I just need more Journey you know? I feel like I should start up my PS4 and bam there is some journey music just chillin’

Yes, I hope this is valid for us who bought the physical collector’s edition as well. We showed our support by buying the expensive copy of the game.

Can you please make a journey two that’s two player. I got my partner to play this game last night. They absolutely loved it. I’d love to be able and sit down with them and play it as a couple.

This is the most beautiful game I’ve ever seen. The score really pulls you in and makes the experience boarder-line magical. The first time I crossed another player it was almost intuitive that we help each other along the way. This is one of my favorite games. I can’t wait for your next release.
