As we begin to focus on beta-testing Sky soon, we are pleased to share some new work-in-progress concepts, design ideas and images/videos around the social adventure experience. We are still testing multiplayer ideas for the game, but we feel these new videos will provide a more in-depth look into Sky for our fans.
Shortly after the launch of Flower and Journey, we had many fans write to us and ask if we could consider creating an experience where they could easily play with friends and loved ones. They liked Flower and Journey but they wanted broader accessibility and to share the game with their family.
We deliberated for a long time on how we could make it accessible under the constraints and development scale as a small studio. It was something we thought long and hard about, as we began our work in earnest. We ultimately settled on developing for Apple first (given the App Store’s reach and intuitive design), with the view of creating a new “one-swipe” touchscreen game experience that was easy for both gamers and non-gamers to pick up and use. We would look to publish Sky as a multi-format title as well.
Over the past few years, we have explored the concept of developing an intriguing world that could bring families together – while also pushing the boundaries of promoting positive behavior and social experiences within the game. Could we create a new kind of mobile social experience that would also move audiences emotionally with its theme and story as well?
With Sky, we are looking to make an intriguing, ever-expanding world above the clouds, that is filled with light and darkness. As a ‘Descendant,’ your goal is to collaborate with other players to unearth the buried mysteries in the kingdom. Only by working together can you progress in the world. Using the power of light and candles, you and others need to spread light across the kingdom as you encounter a cast of characters and creatures who may be able to help you along the way.
The ultimate hope for the studio is to create a new experience that promotes compassion, altruism and teamwork within its audience base. Join us as we begin to take flight into the skies this winter.
We thank you for your continued encouragement and support as we finish Sky.
