thatgamecompany is best recognized for creating award-winning, enriching and meaningful game titles such as Journey, Flower and flOw. Now that the studio has launched Sky, our first mobile game, we are seeking an Animator who will be central to continually bringing life into the ever-expanding world that we’ve created.
Responsibilities:
- Create a variety of gameplay animations and poses using Maya,
- Setting up cameras in cinematic cut-scenes based on direction from art and storyboards,
- Communicate with animation team, Art Director and Art Manager to see implementation through and verifying that the final, in-game result is up to par
- Estimate future animation contents and assist Art Manager to plan out future scope of work
- Participate and contribute to the story development of future in-game events and seasons
Requirements and Skills:
- 3+ years of game development experience
- Ability to produce excellent keyframe animations quickly
- Fast blocking and iteration skills
- Attention to detail, adaptability, and receptiveness to feedback and direction
- Time management skills — ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines
- Fluent in Maya
- Character rigging experience a plus
- Personal animation project is a huge plus
