The Art Institute of Phoenix

This past weekend I got the opportunity to visit The Art Institute of Phoenix(AIPX). Steve Swink and Matthew Wegner from Flashbang Studios (who you might remember as the creators of the wonderful game, “Sealab 2021: Sweet Mayhem”) hosted me, and also had me talk with the Phoenix IGDA chapter.
Steve Swink is a teacher at AIPX, and I was honored to meet all of the wonderful students there. I talked to them about making student games, and then I got to see their works! It was quite inspiring, and there a more than a few new talents over there in Phoenix. Of course, they have a great teacher. =) At the IGDA meeting, I got to meet a bunch of the local developers, which was really exciting, and we exchanged our ideas on online distribution, both on what kind of content we'd like to see, as well as how a studio can survive on making smaller games.
Then I got to have breakfast at US Egg, which was soooooo delicious.
All in all, a very satisfying trip! Many thanks to Flashbang Studios, AIPX, and IGDA Phoenix!
