Happy New Year to everyone in video game land! Personally, I'm totally stoked for 2008, which will forever be imprinted on my memory as The Year of the Flower(I'm sure certain other teams it's the year of Home or the year of Little Big Planet…. or the year of Braid, J Blow get that game out so I can play it already!). Jenova is still in China (until the 6th) but everyone else at TGC is back and the vibe is positive.

This year, the Great Transition between one year and the next was celebrated by me mainly by playing loads of video games. I can't say I always do this, but I got sick over the holiday, and so going to museums and parks turned into painting my bathroom and playing games.

Here's what I tore through:
Uncharted – great fun, but what about that last hour or so (don't want to spoil it)?
Call of Duty 4 – yeah, so absolutely no one, including myself, expected me to play this game. But I had been hearing so many good things about it, I had to check it out. And I was quite surprised at how much I enjoyed! Certainly, playing a first person military shooter is a certain type of mindset that I normally don't get into. However, for this genre, I thought the game design was really spot-on. Good flow, good learning curve, and the battles felt really organic. Great job, Infinity Ward!
Tetris DS – yeah, nothing new, but seriously, I played this for around 3 out of the 5hrs of my flight to, and then back from Richmond, VA. I've become obsessed with beating my boyfriend in combat mode, so I've been training.
