Hooray! So much awesome news coming in!
G4 just announced their nominations for the G4′s Best of 2009. Flower has been nominated for Best Original Game, Best Downloadable Game, and…. drum roll please…. it’s the only downloadable game nominated for Best Soundtrack!
Congratulations to the “Flower” team, and many congrats to composer Vincent Diamante and sound designer Steve Johnson!
The finalists will be announced on X-Play, December 15th at 6:00pm.
for added rhyming, I’ll add a “wheeeee!”
This week, Spike TV will be showcasing the nominees for Best Independent Game of 2009. You can watch a short preview here. In this particular clip, Jenova shows one of our early Flower demos, and explains (hilariously) why it was thrown aside in pursuit of the game Flower eventually became.
These short clips will culminate in a 30 minute special on the nominees which will air this Thursday at 12am, 11pm CST on Spike TV.
“Flower” will be shown at the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology (FACT) as a part of a show called “Space Invaders: Art and the Computer Game Environment.”
Space Invaders: Art and the Computer Game Environment explores the increasingly blurred boundaries between videogame spaces and real spaces. It features artists using games as a medium and subject (Blast Theory, Aram Bartholl, Bill Viola, Cao Fei, Ludic Society and more) alongside playable, commercial games that push the limits of the medium. Space Invaders is part of a season of gaming at FACT. The season includes interactive games events, competitions and a game-themed film programme.
